Communities of Practice – approaches to promoting relational health in discussions with parents/caregivers, understanding intergenerational trauma, and the importance of positive relationships to promote child flourishing

Friday, June 30, 2023 @ 9:30am - 11:00am

Georgia Essentials for Childhood supports five communities of practice around statewide priorities that have emerged from similarities across local and regional implementation of Georgia’s CAN prevention plan (CANPP). Participants interact through e-mail and the devoted collaboration space on the Basecamp platform, hosted and moderated by Georgia Essentials. In addition, two times each year, virtual (Zoom) sessions are held to bring participants together to learn about resources (like data or funding) and best practices for implementation and collaboration, and to network with their peers from across the state. Communities of practice are intended to offer a safe and open space to allow peer-based sharing of successful approaches, looking for advice around challenges and obstacles, and commiseration.

Participation is open to practitioners across Georgia, regardless of their connection to the state CANPP or their region’s implementation plan, with the intention of elevating these top strategies to true statewide priorities.
