Healing Through Harmony: Evidence-Based Music Therapy Interventions Supporting Children and Youth in Foster Care

This webinar provides an engaging, trauma-informed overview of how music therapy and music-based experiences can support children and youth who have experienced Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and childhood trauma. Participants will learn about the unique ways music can support emotional expression, self-regulation, resilience, connection, self-esteem, healthy coping, and a sense of safety and belonging. A key focus of the presentation will be practical strategies that counselors, educators, caregivers, and other professionals can safely incorporate within their own scope of practice. Participants will be introduced to recommended music, playlists, music-based activities, and supportive techniques that can encourage emotional expression, grounding, connection, reflection, and positive coping. Discussion will also address the importance of using music in a trauma-informed manner and recognizing when a child may benefit from referral to a qualified music therapist or other mental health professional.
