October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month: Let’s Talk About It
Wednesday, October 14, 2026 @ 3:00pm - 4:00pm
FreeLET’S TALK ABOUT IT: DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, TRAUMA & THE IMPACT ACROSS GENERATIONS
Breaking the Silence. Increasing Awareness. Supporting Healing.
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and Amerigroup (AGP) invites you to join us for an important conversation about a subject that is often difficult to discuss but too important to ignore.
Domestic violence does not only affect the individuals directly involved. Exposure to violence and trauma can have lasting effects on children, families, relationships, emotional well-being, and adult mental health.
Let’s bring this conversation to the forefront.
This educational webinar will provide participants with a greater understanding of domestic violence, its potential long-term effects, and the importance of trauma-informed approaches when supporting children, adults, and families who have experienced violence.
During This Training, Participants Will:
- Gain background information about domestic violence, including its dynamics and potential impact on individuals and families.
- Explore the long-term effects of exposure to domestic violence and trauma.
- Increase awareness of how exposure to domestic violence may affect child development, behavior, relationships, and emotional well-being.
- Examine the potential connection between childhood exposure to trauma and adult mental health.
- Discuss the importance of trauma-informed education and training for professionals and service providers working with children and families.
- Increase awareness of the importance of responding to individuals and families with sensitivity, knowledge, and appropriate support.
Why This Conversation Matters
For some families, the effects of domestic violence do not end when the immediate violence stops. Understanding the impact of trauma can help professionals and caregivers recognize needs earlier, respond more effectively, and connect individuals and families with appropriate support.
Awareness can lead to understanding. Understanding can change how we respond. And how we respond can make a difference.
This October, let’s move beyond silence and bring awareness, education, and informed support to the conversation about domestic violence.
We look forward to seeing you there!
